When you put your horse in show training at Nordlys Araber, we know you give lots of trust to us. Sending a horse away from home is not such an easy thing, you can never be sure how your horse is treated when you are far away. We will do our very best to make sure your horse is very well taken care of, and remains happy during the entire stay at our farm.

We work on the theory that a show horse must like and feel safe enough to work, through kindness, discipline, patience and repetition. This varied training keeps our horses fresh, happy and energetic. We school our horses slowly and gently with the goal of relaxed, but very attentive stand-ups, with no fear. They are all turned out in big grass paddocks daily. The horses are sorted in smaller groups after age, and preference of friends. Stallions are not isolated, but turned out in paddocks in between other fields, to keep them socialised and happy.

The training program is very varied, young horses are climbing hills in hand in the mountain, free longed in the sand paddock, and as well walked in the sea, the beautiful Romsdals fjord. Horses 3 years and older are doing the same as the youngsters, but in addition they are also longed with chambon or elastic, as well as broke to ride, we climb quite a lot under saddle, as well as riding them all in the mountains.

We put much importance on trustful companionship, with a proud horse, happy to please the handler. We have a close and good relation with outstanding vet, dentist and blacksmith, and all horses are followed through the season, with the goal of improving every week both condition, health, power and correctness of feet.

We believe that through excellent training we can provide the client with better show results due to the fact that the horse stands up and feel safe enough to show their movements, then they presents themselves to the judges, and it enabling them to score the horse more objectively. You are very welcome with any questions about our show training program!
